May have mild fever and cold symptoms, widespread rash. Swelling of the lymph glands behind the ears.
Virus spreads through contact with the respiratory tract secretions of an infected person.
From 1 week before to at least 4 days after onset of rash.
Exclude 7 days after onset of the rash.
Clean and disinfect soiled articles and surfaces.
Thorough and frequent hand washing by staff and children.
Pregnant women who have been exposed should call their health care provider.
